Kemah Flooring, Matched to the Floor Beneath It

We install hardwood, luxury vinyl plank and tile, laminate, carpet and stair flooring in Kemah, League City and Seabrook. Before we recommend a material, we check what sits under your current floor: the slab, the subfloor, the moisture and the level. Then the new floor is chosen to suit it.

Flooring We Install

Our work covers hardwood flooring, luxury vinyl plank and luxury vinyl tile, tile flooring, laminate flooring, carpet installation and carpet tile. We also lay vinyl composition tile for laundry rooms, garages converted to living space and other hard-working areas, and we handle stair flooring so treads and risers match the rooms they connect. Each material behaves differently on a concrete slab or a wood subfloor, so we talk through where it is going before we talk about color.

  • Hardwood Flooring

Solid and engineered hardwood installed over a subfloor we have tested and prepared, so the floor lies flat and stays that way.

  • Luxury Vinyl Plank

Rigid, water-resistant plank flooring for kitchens, baths and living areas, laid only after we measure moisture and flatness underneath.

  • Tile Flooring

Porcelain and ceramic tile installed after we check the slab, the old setting bed and the cause of any cracking, so the new floor stays tight.

  • Laminate Flooring

Durable, wood-look laminate installed over a subfloor we have tested for moisture and flattened where needed, so the planks lock tight and stay quiet.

  • Carpet Installation

New wall-to-wall carpet, power-stretched over the right pad, after we check why the old carpet wore, rippled or held odor.

  • Carpet Tile

Modular carpet squares for game rooms, offices and bedrooms, laid with the right adhesive after we check your slab for moisture and dips.

  • Luxury Vinyl Tile

Stone and ceramic looks in luxury vinyl tile, installed over a subfloor we test and prepare first so the seams stay closed.

  • Vinyl Composition Tile

Hard-wearing 12-inch VCT for laundry rooms, workshops and playrooms, set in thin-spread adhesive over a slab we have tested and leveled.

  • Stair Flooring

New treads, risers and nosing in hardwood, vinyl, laminate or carpet, installed after we find and fix what makes your stairs squeak or flex.

Why Homeowners Ask Us to Look First

Most flooring that fails early was laid over a problem nobody checked. Our work starts with finding that problem, so the floor you pay for lasts.

We test before we quote

We take moisture readings on the slab or subfloor and check it for flatness with a straightedge. Those numbers decide which materials will hold up and what prep is needed. You see the readings, not just our opinion.

An honest answer on what failed

If your planks are cupping or your tile is cracking, we tell you why. Sometimes it is the floor itself. Sometimes it is a high spot in the slab, a missing vapor barrier or a plumbing leak that needs a plumber first.

Materials explained plainly

Solid hardwood, engineered wood, rigid-core vinyl and porcelain all react to humidity in their own way. We explain those differences so you can weigh look, feel and care against how the room is used.

Careful work inside your home

We protect doorways, baseboards and the rooms we pass through, keep dust down where we can and clean up at the end of each day. Trim and transitions are fitted to sit flush, because the edges are where a floor looks finished or not.

Prep is part of the price

Leveling, patching and underlayment are listed on the estimate, not added later. If we find something unexpected once the old floor comes up, we stop, show you and agree on it before going further.

About Flooring Kemah

We are a flooring company that would rather spend an extra half hour looking at your slab than come back in a year to replace buckled planks. That habit shapes everything we do, from the questions we ask on the phone to the way we write an estimate.

We work inside occupied homes, so we treat each one as somebody's daily life rather than a job site. Furniture plans, pets, room access and timing get discussed before the first day, and we keep you informed if anything we find changes the plan.

What Moves the Price of a New Floor

Two rooms of the same size can cost quite different amounts. The material matters, but so does everything that has to happen before it goes down. Here is what we look at when we put an estimate together.

We measure and inspect in person, then give you a written estimate with each line shown, including prep. You can get your quote by phone once that visit is done.

Material and grade
Solid hardwood, engineered wood, porcelain tile, rigid-core vinyl, laminate and carpet sit at very different levels. Within each, wear layer, thickness and finish change the cost too.
Condition of the slab or subfloor
A flat, dry slab needs little work. Dips, high spots, cracks or soft plywood need grinding, self-leveling compound or new sheathing before anything is installed.
Moisture control
In a humid Gulf Coast climate, many slabs give off more moisture than wood or some adhesives can tolerate. A vapor barrier or moisture-rated underlayment adds cost but protects the whole floor.
Removal of the old floor
Pulling carpet is quick. Removing glued-down tile or old sheet vinyl takes longer and produces more debris to haul away.
Layout, stairs and transitions
Diagonal or herringbone patterns, many doorways, closets and stair treads all add cutting and fitting time compared with an open, square room.

How a Flooring Job Runs

Most jobs follow the same four steps. The first one is where we spend the most care.

  1. 1

    A conversation by phone

You tell us what is happening with your floor and what you would like instead. We ask a few questions about the rooms and set a time to visit.

  2. 2

    Inspection and measuring

At your home we measure each room, take moisture readings and check the subfloor for flatness and soundness. If the old floor has failed, we look for the reason and show you what we found.

  3. 3

    Written estimate and material choice

You get a line-item estimate covering removal, prep, materials and installation. We help you choose a material that suits the room and the conditions underneath, then schedule the work once it is ordered and has acclimated where needed.

  4. 4

    Installation and walkthrough

We protect your home, remove the old floor, complete the prep and install. At the end we walk the floor with you, check transitions and trim, and explain how to care for it.

Questions Homeowners Ask Us

Something not covered here? (346) 220-0973

Why did my last floor fail so quickly?

The most common causes we find are moisture coming up through the slab, a subfloor that was not flat enough, or planks laid without room to expand. Each one shows up differently, as cupping, gaps, hollow spots or cracked grout. We inspect before recommending anything so the new floor does not repeat the problem.

Can you install new flooring over my existing floor?

Sometimes. Floating vinyl or laminate can go over some flat, well-bonded tile, for example. Carpet, cushioned vinyl and anything loose or uneven has to come out first. We check what you have and tell you which way makes sense.

Is hardwood a good choice in a humid area?

It can be, with the right product and prep. Engineered hardwood is more stable than solid wood on a concrete slab, and both need moisture testing and proper acclimation. If the readings say wood is a poor fit, we will tell you and suggest options like rigid-core vinyl or porcelain tile.

Do I need to leave my home during installation?

Usually not. We work room by room where possible and keep a clear path through the house. Tile installs and leveling compound need set time, so we will tell you which rooms are off limits and for how long.

How long does a typical job take?

A single bedroom of carpet or vinyl plank is often done in a day. Larger areas, tile, stairs and jobs that need slab leveling take longer. Your estimate includes a realistic schedule based on what we saw at the inspection.

Can my stairs match the new floor in the rooms around them?

In most cases, yes. Hardwood and many vinyl plank lines offer matching stair nosing, and we can cut treads and risers to line up with the floor at the top and bottom. Before we start, we check each tread for squeaks or movement, since a loose stair will work its way through any new covering.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. We provide a 1-year workmanship warranty on all installations. Manufacturer coverage on the material itself is separate, and we walk you through what that product includes.
